"yitznewton" (yitznewton)

One of the good things about my Jetta was its very loud turn-signal clicker. The S2000 isn’t particularly loud, and it gets totally drowned out with the top down and/or radio on. This is a problem because I often set it before a fast sweeping ramp that doesn’t auto-cancel it, and forget it’s on.
I looked on The Internet, and found some DIY guides for wiring a piezo buzzer across the relay terminals, which I did. There’s a leakage of current that produces a soft whine when the signal is not on, audible at the beginning of this Vine. How do I conquer that?

Just try shouting each time the arrow blinks.

There’s probably interference. Try insulating the system some more.

I drive a BMW z3 and can relate to not hearing the turn signal in a windy cabin.
What I did was quit using the turn signals at all. /s

Could you find a “loud” relay of the size needed for your car and call it a day?

Why not just use the extra loud blinker things?

Tried, did not succeed.

I couldn’t find one for this car.

That only works on BMWs.

My stepdad used to change them out all the time on cars because he liked loud cars and regular ones would get drowned out by engine.

That's what I was getting at.

same here with the Miata and straigh pipe. I just learned to alway do it manually. But i also have experience with motorcycles and they are manual on there too

Filter the current leakage with a resistor before the buzzer?

Also gotten into the habit of manually disengaging them before it’s a 50/50 chance mine disables when turning to one of the sides, worn switch and what not.
Wagon, semi manual, not brown, turbo because volvo

Might be able to get away with a small resistor on positive connection. Providing just enough impedence to prevent bleed through.
